The Wedding of Katy & Claude

Ceremony: Cypress Grove, Mendocino, CA

Planning, Reception, & Dinner: MacCallum House Inn & Restaurant

Katy and Claude met with Glass Slipper in Mendocino, CA to plan the details of their wedding photography. Their plan included documenting the entire day of preparations, the ceremony, the reception and formal portraits.

When Katy and Claude came to meet with us in our home, to discuss the style and look of the photos we would be creating with them, they saw some images that would later guide us to some of the results you will see in this blog.

Claude had taken a moment to admire a series of photo-art collages I had just completed(eyecons). He loved the style and look of these images and the "pop art" quality of the work.

We agreed that in addition to more traditional photographs of their wedding day, we would create some unique photo images following in the style of my "eyecons" series.

Claude asked us to use our own creative direction in developing and styling the images that would be a future part of his art collection.

What follows are some of the final images from their wedding day and descriptions of the look that was selected for each set of images.

A warm look was created for the indoor and outdoor preparation and before ceremony photos. This warm style begins the album very traditionally.

These portraits took advantage of Katy's pearlescent skin tones. Using the cool light of the shade and augmenting the photograph with flash lighting, a very smooth beauty look is created. These images use a touch of lavender to further embellish the cool image quality.

The ceremony was beautifully lit by the evening sun. We embraced the strong sun, allowing it to create a glowing feeling in the photograph, while preserving the delicate beauty of the shade on their faces.
The quality of the shade was warmed up in the final coloring to create soft, beautiful faces.
These two retro looks draw on 1960's media images and traditional poses. It is the first step in moving the image quality, of the album, toward the "pop art" style of the reception photographs.
This panorama was directed and planned to create a layout that tells a story of two people coming together in love. As well, an extra large print of this photo-collage is perfect for framing a displaying an image that is both art and a wedding memory. Click on this image to enjoy it full size.
The high contrast black & white with hints of blues and lavenders creates a unique party atmosphere. Additionally, the collage work pushes that idea further creating a very strong visual experience - full of motion, activity and leaving room for viewer exploration into the image.
